Sunil Kumar Agrawal has secured a major contract from South Eastern Coalfields Limited for coal extraction and handling services at the Durgapur Open Cast Mine (OCM).
The integrated mining contract covers coal handling and transportation operations, overburden (OB) removal, as well as coal cutting, loading, transportation, and wagon loading activities. Valued at Rs 4,247.08 crore, the contract will be executed over a period of 11 years and six months.
The project is expected to strengthen coal production efficiency and support uninterrupted coal supply while improving logistics performance at the Durgapur mining operation. The scope of work includes comprehensive material handling activities ranging from excavation and overburden removal to coal dispatch and transportation management.
Execution of the contract will involve large-scale deployment of heavy earthmoving equipment, transportation systems, and manpower to ensure efficient mining operations and timely movement of coal output. The assignment forms part of broader initiatives aimed at optimizing production capacity at Durgapur OCM and ensuring reliable fuel supply for the power and industrial sectors.
The project is also expected to enhance regional coal logistics infrastructure and improve operational reliability across the mining area.
